Physical description: Average height, around 5'6" or so, with long, thick honey-colored hair that hangs straight down her back and more than halfway down. With a curvy, not-quite-hourglass figure making her only more attractive, Elara is rather aware of her good looks but rarely uses them to her advantage. She favors bright, rich blue hues for her nicer robes and takes a good amount of care when dressing, using light amounts of natural makeup. Her rich, warm blue eyes hint that she always has a happy thought in mind and she is usually found smiling.

Personality: Despite her rather unusual name, Elara is a rather, well, normal person. She's kind and even-tempered and can sometimes be taken advantage of by her friends when they ask for favors. She has a forgiving nature and is always looking for the best in people. She is full of feminine touches and mannerisms and enjoys being a good hostess, using household charms to great effect. Elara is also motherly and is the type of person to invite her friends in for some tea while they describe their troubles. She is not one to make things more complicated than they should be and always seeks the path of least resistance. Though very good at what she does, she avoids bragging or showing off her talent.

Family/History:

Elara is a married astronomer and her home is located near the small village of Matfen in Northumberland, England which is also her hometown. She is the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother. They are a middling close family and always send each other cards for birthdays and get together for Christmas. Her mother and father are retired and enjoying life to the fullest, popping about the globe with vim and vigor. Elara is quite close to her parents and spends a fair amount of time with them when they are between excursions. While her father belives home is where you can hang your hat, her mother is more attached to one place. The oldest has one kid and Elara loves being an aunt to her little nephew and near spoils him when she can.

Elara's childhood was quiet and comfortable and she spent much time reading or helping her mother out around the house. Her mother was a stay at home mom, but was always bustling around with plenty of things to do. Her father was a quidditch referee and therefore was always running around the world for games. Though, thanks to apparition, he never had to be away from home very long and came back with tall tales of foreign countries. When he could, he took his family to the games which are still one of the few places Elara becomes quite rowdy. She is an avid fan of the Appleby Arrows and attends games whenever possible.

Her time at Hogwarts was spent well between studying and friends. Being of moderate popularity, she always had dates to dances and girlfriends to gossip with. She was nice to everyone and even gave the nastier students a fair chance. She stayed out of trouble, respected her fellows and teachers and was a Chaser on the Quidditch team for her last three years, after a friend had talked her into trying out for a sport she loved so much. Her adult friends now have a little trouble believing that she did this, but she has a nice, permanent bump from a bludger as proof on her calf.
Elara met her husband, Jens Halverson, while studying the Northern Lights up in the Scandinavian countries when she'd just finished up Hogwarts. He was a soft-spoken, local astronomer but they didn't think much of each other at first but after several months of spending much time together in the cold and ice, their semi-constant bickering grew to a wonderful relationship. They were married shortly after their research had finished with a small ceremony for family and close friends. They are quietly in love and when together are almost always touching in some, small way. He followed her back to her hometown, leaving the lights and ice he loved so much for her but their vacations often take them back to Norway to visit his family and friends who are also always welcome in their cottage. They both work for an independent company in the Astronomy field.

Her dream job, however, is to return to her school to teach someday and share her love of the stars with students. Her worst fear is never having children and having been married for 4 years, she is beginning to worry, but she usually tucks that worry away with a cheerful face and positive thought.
